Due to rapidly increasing levels of enquiries, we are now looking for Technical Sales Engineers to establish, maintain strong working relationships with our existing customers and help grow our sales revenue with new customers within Europe and North America.

All applicants must already be eligible to work in the UK.

Contract

Full time, Based in our Head Office in Nottingham.

Regular, frequent travel will be a part of this role.

Outline of role

Reporting into the Head of Sales, this role would ideally suit a Technical Sales Engineer with automotive or mechanical engineering sales experience.  Experience of sales within the engineering CAE software industry or engineering consultancy services market would be considered an advantage. Senior Engineers with a technical background in automotive transmission and driveline development that can demonstrate a high level of commercial acumen who are looking to expand their career in sales would also be considered.

Responsibilities

 

  • Technical sales:
    • Becoming an ‘Intelligent Seller’ by acquiring a level of technical understanding of SMT’s software product portfolio and services sufficiently to:
      • Effectively demonstrate SMT’s market positioning
      • Understand SMT’s USPs and differentiators from both external competitors and customer in-house solutions
      • Competently convey features and benefits
      • Demonstrate basic level MASTA software functionality to prospective clients
      • Effectively communicate customer technical requirements to SMT internal teams
    • Consistent achievement of agreed quarterly and annual sales order in-take targets
    • Learn and implement the Company’s sales model, best practice, and win-factors to maximise the conversion rate of prospects to customers
    • Manage the preparation of sales quotations and engineering service project proposals with the support of internal technical and commercial teams
    • Utilising the Company’s CRM system to track business opportunities
    • Support sales activity in other SMT territories as required

 

Role requirements

 

  • Key competencies and experience:
    • Proven experience in sales and lead generation for technical software products and/or engineering services, typically gained over 2+ years
    • Proven and demonstrable track record of consistently achieving sales targets, and engaging prospects through the entire sales cycle
    • Strong commercial acumen in order to identify, generate and close business
    • Experience of CRM systems
    • Desirable:
      • Experience in working in a consultative environment
      • Experience in sales to automotive OEMs or industry Tier-1 suppliers
      • A technical background in automotive powertrains and drivelines
