MASTA 8.2 Contents and Summary
The 8.2 release of MASTA contains all of the capabilities from previous releases, various additional features and some enhancements to previously included features. Areas where you will find new or revised functionality include the following:
Gleason GEMS Interface
A new interface has been developed in discussion with Gleason that enables you to import gear macro geometry data into a MASTA fill system model via a Gleason GEMS xml file which can then be used to calculate deflections of system including gear misalignments which can then be used to run Loaded Tooth Contact analyses in GEMS. Results from GEMS LTCA can be used as input into MASTA Gear Whine Analysis. This functionality is included in module MG20 – KIMoS/Gleason GEMS XML Interface.
Microgeometry Design Space Search
New functionality available under the Cylindrical Gear Micro Geometry Optimisation module (MO101) facilitates the optimisation of gear micro geometry via a design space search. This functionality is via a new tab in micro geometry mode.
Licence Usage Options
- A time period can be specified after which MASTA will initiate the handback of licenses in the case of a network licence
- For RLM licences, a new License Usage tab is included in the Licence Manager which enables you to query the licence to find out either which users have a specified MASTA module checked out for use or which MASTA features a specified user has checked out. This can aid in identifying who to contact is a required feature is not available due to too many concurrent users.
Cylindrical gears can now be cloned, allowing more convenient modelling of gear sets with identical gears. This also allows such gear sets to be used in MASTA’s optimisation modules where previously the constraint of keeping the two gears identical would not have been possible.
Load Case Group Histograms
A new tab has been added to Load Cases and Duty Cycles mode to view load case group data in form of several histograms.
ISO 10300 Bevel and Hypoid Gear Rating
A new rating of straight, spiral and Zerol bevel gears and Hypoid gears to ISO 10300 (2014) Method B1 has been added.
Lubricant details that were previously saved within a MASTA file are now stored within their own database. (in the same way that, for example, Materials are stored). This allows the sharing of lubricants between MASTA designs.
Ball Bearing Contact Calculation
A new option to calculate the ellipticity of ball bearing contacts and the corresponding elliptic integrals using a more accurate solution. The previous method available in earlier releases is available as an option on a load case to aid with results comparisons.
Reset Power Flow Animation to Beginning
Added a button to allow to reset the animation in Power Flow Mode 3D view to the beginning. This allows to reset a model with cut away so that the cut always line up after the animation has been run.
Detailed splines now use average tooth thickness dimensions for drawings and dxf/dwg CAD export.
Mesh Coefficient of Friction Methods
Two new options have been included to facilitate the specification of cylindrical gear coefficient of friction: ISO 14179-2 and User-Specified.
Log Reports on Individual Design Entities in Parametric Study Tool
Parametric Study Tool can now log and save reports on individual design entities.
Add Input Properties for All Entities of the Same Type
The ability to add an input property for all entities of the same type has been included for use in Parametric study Tool mode and RUNNA.
Element Offset for Axial Thrust Cylindrical Roller Bearings
The element offset from the centre of the bearing can now be specified on axial thrust cylindrical and needle roller bearings.
