SMT collaboration with NTU Innovation Community Lab

Here at SMT we have two passions, all things engineering… and every one of our employees! So when we found out about the opportunity to nurture our staff and the company, by taking part in a programme to develop business acumen and employee leadership potential, it was an opportunity not to be missed!

Our customers say that the thing that makes SMT as great as it is, is the people we employ. And we want our staff to feel they can be driven from rearing young individuals who share the same goal of developing their own leadership skills and career. The programme allows individuals to explore innovative solutions from discussions around product development, service or process implementation.

That’s why we’re excited to announce our partnership with Nottingham Trent University Innovation Community Lab*!

ICL brings together delegates from a range of industry sectors and job roles. ICL provides the tools and knowledge to generate and implement and excel new ideas for innovation culture and process development tailored to their own business. It’s a free thirty hour course, run over a six week period, which offers a practical based learning opportunity that brings real and effective solutions to ‘real world’ work based tasks.

With interactive workshops, skills sharing and taking business innovation to the next step, this is a great support driven programme that we are delighted to be in alliance with. The ICL programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund for SMEs in the D2N2 area – more information can be found here https://www.ntu.ac.uk/about-us/news/news-articles/2017/04/innovation-community-lab

Cara Bryan, Marketing Executive of SMT said her experience at the ICL programme “has been really enjoyable to network in a relaxed environment with other ‘young’ professionals and to listen to such great speakers! There’s no doubt the subjects we’ve covered so far have given me the skills (and confidence) to identify areas for change and if appropriate make those changes… I just feel like ICL is helping me and my company to keep moving forward!”.
