This year marked the 11th International Symposium on Automotive Transmission and Drive Technology (TMC2019) that took place in Shanghai from April 19-20, 2019.  The symposium, that takes place annually, is a chance to showcase the latest developments and technologies from leading companies, industry leaders, executives, experts, researchers and engineers alike. The conference is organised by the Society of Automotive Engineers of China (China SAE) and is one of the most influential transmission and drive technology conferences.

With the continuing industry shift towards full-scale electrification, the event was a chance to learn, explore and discover electrified drivetrain systems, in particular, the development of hybrid drives, testing and technological advancements.

Cao Feng, CAE Department Director, at SMT China presented “key technical challenges and simulation analysis of E-Drive transmission systems” and introduced the developments of our CAE software, MASTA, for the design, analysis and optimisation of transmission systems, with dedicated functionality for EV/HEV gearbox development.
