Warwick and SMT to Present Research on Polymer Gear Wear

Polymer GearsThe 20th international conference on Wear of Materials (WOM) will take place between the 12th and 16th April this year in Toronto, Canada. The conference provides a unique international forum for researchers and practitioners from different disciplines to exchange latest results on the friction and wear of materials.

During the conference Dr Ken Mao, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Warwick, will be presenting a research paper entitled “The Wear and Thermal Mechanical Contact Behaviour of Machine Cut Polymer Gears”, co-authored by SMT’s Dr Paul Langlois. The paper will then be published in a special conference volume of Wear of Materials 2015. This collaboration is related to the ongoing Innovate UK (formerly Technology Strategy Board) funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership between SMT and the University of Warwick whereby the two parties are planning, developing and implementing an advanced design and rating methods for polymer gears.
