Parametric Study Tool
- MASTA includes an integrated Parametric Study Tool enabling multi dimensional parameter sweeps, Monte Carlo studies, Design of Experiments and more.
- A range of results presentation options, including 2D plots, contour charts and parallel coordinates. Users can display data to maximise effectiveness.
Tolerance and Robustness
Tolerance and robustness studies are critical to understanding performance within the bounds of manufacturing, assembly and operating point variations.

MASTA API
MASTA has a full scripting API for interacting with MASTA via common software languages such as .NET languages like C#, python and Matlab. The API exposes tens of thousands of parameters. Through scripting it is possible to automate the building of models, modification of designs, running of analyses and processing of results. Scripting allows the user to extend MASTA with their own calculations while retaining their own IP. Scripting can also be used to link MASTA with in house tools, creating efficient workflows.
Dedicated Optimisers
- System Optimiser – Optimise cylindrical gear macro geometry simultaneously for multiple gears in a design for a specified duty cycle taking into account target gear safety factors, gear ratios, helix angle, and packaging constraints
- Cylindrical Gear Micro Geometry Machine Learning – A micro geometry optimiser that uses machine learning to efficiently and automatically optimise cylindrical gears.
- At SMT we are leveraging machine learning techniques to create bespoke targeted solutions which enhance our customers workflows, with no need for the user to have AI expertise.
Batch Running
- Batch run MASTA from third party tools such as modeFrontier, Hyperstudy, Optislang via an XML specification of inputs, analysis and outputs. Enables the full optimisation, DOE and AI based capabilities of these tools to work seamlessly with MASTA. Also enables worflows with multiple analysis tools.
- Run MASTA analyses on Linux HPC, via batch running, using a job scheduler such as Altair PBS Professional. Shorten run times while freeing up the user’s machine. Future developments will enable sending analyses directly from the MASTA user interface to a Linux HPC.
Custom Reporting
Not everybody needs the same data. This is why, in MASTA, we have provided default reports which are fully customisable so you can put the data you need into it. You can also create completely bespoke reports.
- Bespoke scripted properties can be added to custom reports.
- Brand colours and company logos can be added.
- Custom reports are saved within MASTA so can be reused over an over again.
